Court orders arrest of PDP ex-scribe, Aluko for Perjury

Chief Magistrate Adesoji Adegboye of the Ekiti state judiciary on Wednesday issued a court warrant against former secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Dr. Temitope Aluko, for alleged perjury.
In the motion, which was filed and moved by the state Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Mr Gbemiga Adaramola, an order of the court was sought to issue warrant of arrest against Aluko to be executed by the Commissioner of Police with the aim of prosecuting him (Aluko) for trial over alleged perjury. When contacted on telephone, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Alberto Adeyemin said the police was not aware of the arrest warrant. Chief Magistrate Adegboye said the order was granted as a means for the first defendant (Aluko) to attend the court for defence.
A lawyer, Mr Sunday Olowolafe, had filed an application to the state Attorney General calling for the prosecution of Aluko for alleged perjury. Aluko, who was the PDP witness at the court when the All Progressive Congress (APC) took Governor Ayodele Fayose to court over the 2014 governorship election had last week recanted. Speaking at press conference in Abuja, the election was rigged by Governor Fayose with support of then president Goodluck Jonathan and some military officers.
