Benue Senatorial Election: Police Deployed 5000 officers

Benue State Police Command, yesterday said it had mobilized and deployed  no fewer than 5,000 police men to the Benue South zone, ahead of tomorrow ‘s senatorial rerun election between Senator David Mark of the Peoples Democratic Party and Daniel Onjeh, of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Policemen State Police Commissioner, Paul Yakadi, who made this known in Makurdi, the state capital, said other sister security agencies would complement the efforts of the Police on election day. According to him, the force had enough personnel to provide adequate security, before during and after the polls and solicited for the cooperation of stakeholders in the area to ensure a peaceful process.
Yakadi said, “I can assure everyone especially politicians and the electorates from the Benue south zone that we have put in place adequate security measures to ensure the peaceful conduct of Saturday’s rerun election. We have enough personnel on ground, about 5,000 of them have been deployed and we will be complemented by other sister security agencies who will be supporting us to ensure a hitch free election in the zone.
We will all ensure the safety of everyone, so all eligible voters are advised to come out on Saturday to cast their votes without fear of harassment, molestation or intimidation.”The Police Commissioner sued for the cooperation of politicians in the area, warning that the police would not hesitate to arrest anyone caught fomenting trouble during and after the polls.
