Edo APC in power tussle over guber candidate

Benin City - The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently embroiled in controversy over the list of delegates to be used for the forthcoming governorship primaries to nominate a flag bearer for the 2016 gubernatorial race in the state, reports Vanguard.

The primaries are slated for March or April.

The raging controversy was sparked following attempts to review the delegates list to be used for the primaries.

The party’s national leadership has insisted on the use of the list of delegates elected at the 2014 congress but the leadership of the party in the state wants the list altered.

It was gathered that that attempts were being made by some officials of the party in the state to alter the 2014 delegates list to accommodate those not qualified for the delegate conference.

The party’s Constitution on the conduct of party primaries for the nomination of governorship flag bearer showed that the delegates to vote include the state executive committee of the party and the ward and local government party executives.
