The Mexican government has formally responded to Donald Trump's demand that it pay for his proposed wall, and the answer is an emphatic "No."
"Mexico will under no circumstance pay for the wall that Mr. Trump is proposing,” Mexican Treasury Secretary Luis Videgaray said Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.
Trump, on day one of his presidential bid, announced that he would build a massive wall along the Mexico-U.S. border and has said he would get Mexico to foot the bill.
Videgaray said "emphatically and categorically" that the Mexican government would not do that.
This is the first time the Mexican government has weighed in in an official capacity. Previously, former Mexican president Vicente Fox said “I’m not gonna pay for that f------ wall.”
