Security intel in Kaduna unveiled plans by residents in Gbagy Villa to cause security breaches

The Kaduna State Government has alerted the public that some groups want to cause a security breach in Gbagyi Villa under the cover of a protest against the land recovery exercise.
In a statement issued by Samuel Aruwan, Special Assistant, media and publicity to El Rufai, the protest is scheduled for today, Thursday, 17 March 2016, to provide another platform for the hoodlums who failed to prevent the government officials from issuing demolition notices on encroached land.
A statement disclosed that the security agencies who unraveled the plans have briefed the government on the steps they are taking to uphold law and order. Based on these briefings, the government urges everyone to go about their normal business peacefully.
“Kaduna Polytechnic reported a case of severe encroachment of their land by the residents of what is now Gbagyi Villa. Previous governments did not resolve the issue to conclusively protect the right of the title owner. As the municipal authority in which all land in the state is vested, the government was again approached in 2015 by the Kaduna Polytechnic requesting action to preserve their title.
“In the process of taking action, some Gbagyi Villa residents said that a former governor excised a portion of the land for their benefit. KASUPDA has requested for documentary evidence of this excision and any other documents that may validate the claims of the encroachers. Although none of the documents has been forthcoming, the government said it is ready to recognize and protect every proven title to land.
“Given that verification of title is not conducted by mobs, every resident of the area who has evidence of title to their plots should approach the relevant government agency and follow due process. This a more thorough and productive process than the fruitless passion of a protest that cannot invent title to land. Government has kept open the channels of engagement on this matter.
“The security agencies know the identities of the organizers who are an assortment of opposition figures. The government respects the right to protest, but it will not permit a situation of disorderliness to develop.”
