Akpabio, thus reacted via twitter to the accusations.

Sahara Reporters will not stop what they are doing. They have someone who tell them what to do but many Nigerians already know they are liars

How many people remember this? Sahara Reporters will never change. There must be consequences for every action. pic.twitter.com/yVG9akmrS5

At this point, Sahara Reporters launched an all-out attack at Akpabio- who had proven that he wasn’t going to lie low and take the flak.

@SenAkpabio It was an error on our part, we owned up to it. You'll have to account for all bad deeds, you can't get away with buying justice

— Sahara Reporters (@SaharaReporters) March 15, 2016

Get back your bought pride first from APC and those funding you then you can preach. https://t.co/EJqaivebrR

Sen Godswill Akpabio (@SenAkpabio) March 15, 2016

@SenAkpabio You'll not always get away with all your shenanigans, money won't always buy you the police, judges, journalists, bloggers…

— Sahara Reporters (@SaharaReporters) March 15, 2016

When people pay for every story you write against people, you will always think everyone buys journalists too.

Sen Godswill Akpabio (@SenAkpabio) March 15, 2016

@SenAkpabio You are the one well known for buying journalists. Remember how NUJ members you bribed were kidnapped in Aba in 2010?

— Sahara Reporters (@SaharaReporters) March 15, 2016

@SenAkpabio You'll be gone, rest assured that you can't bribe us and we can't be bought. You know this as a fact.

— Sahara Reporters (@SaharaReporters) March 15, 2016

@SenAkpabio You can wish that all your corrupt deeds would be buried, you must pay for every ounce of your shenanigans. No expiration date!

— Sahara Reporters (@SaharaReporters) March 15, 2016

@SaharaReporters As long as God is on the throne, you will be disgraced in this nation. God will expose you in the end.

Sen Godswill Akpabio (@SenAkpabio) March 15, 2016

@SenAkpabio You can't invent a different God for yourself and another for victims of your 8 years of grand theft & invoke it against anyone.

— Sahara Reporters (@SaharaReporters) March 15, 2016

@SaharaReporters Those funding you can never achieve what we achieved in Akwa Ibom in 8yrs. God will disgrace you in the end.

Sen Godswill Akpabio (@SenAkpabio) March 15, 2016

@SenAkpabio If you didn't steal most of the funds sent to Akwa Ibom, the state would be competing with any state in the real world today!

— Sahara Reporters (@SaharaReporters) March 15, 2016

Akpabio’s media team then explained why it opted to go head to head with the news outfit as opposed to their culture of silence.

FYI: The Social Media Team of Senator Godswill Akpabio had to respond to SR today because of their continuous lies against the Senator.

Sen Godswill Akpabio (@SenAkpabio) March 15, 2016

But Sahara Reporters was not having it.

@SenAkpabio So, suddenly it is the "Social Media Team" of Senator Akpabio responding after he's put to shame…Nice try!
