Three PDP Chieftains in Rivers State defects to APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) predicted the collapse of the People's Democratic Party in Rivers State amid reports of mass defections.
APC reported Governor Nyesom Wike's camp had become further depleted with the exit of three frontline gubernatorial candidates. They have been unveiled as APC members.
The trio comprises Sunday Nwankwo, Bekinbo Soberekon and Bekinbo Dagogo-Jack. They are said to have left in protest of primaries elections PDP rigged.
Other decampees have been mentioned as Dr Diamond Tobin-West, Dr Basoba Anga, Tubonimi Wokoma, Daye Ojuka and Ibroma Kirchner.
Receiving the said decampees, Rivers APC governorship candidate, Dr Dakuku Peterside, reported Dr Tammy Dangogo, the immediate past Minister of Sports and Wike's ally had defected from PDP. Rivers APC welcomed the decampees and congratulated them for "taking the right decision at the right time."Tensions between the APC and PDP have characterised the oil-rich Rivers State for some time.
Previously seen as an APC stronghold, it is led by Wike's PDP .APC does not recognise the election of Wike citing vote rigging and violence. Courts have nullifies Wike's elections and a re-run is due in February/March 2016.
