Dickson sanctions 500 workers for supporting APC

For allegedly backing the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the just-concluded governorship poll in Bayelsa State, Gov Seriake Dickson has listed no fewer than 500 civil servants for punishment.
The affected civil servants might not receive their salaries for the months of December and January, as part of their punishment for being pro-APC in the election. Dickson was declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after defeating former Governor Timipre Sylva of the APC.
The governor is said to be unhappy that the civil servants worked against his re-election. It was gathered that Dickson had set up a special committee in each of the eight local government areas to monitor the activities of pro-APC civil servants before and during the elections. The directive to punish the civil servants was based on the report submitted by the committee shortly after INEC declared Dickson winner of the election on January 10, 2016.Dickson’s action is said to be generating tension as the affected civil servants have vowed to seek redress in court.
