At least, people buy Adele's music. The singer's new album, 25, has sold more than 4.2 million copies in the U.S. and, according to Billboard, is officially the first album to ever sell one million copies two weeks in a row. And she did it all without streaming or a Beyoncé duet.
Best First-Week Sales for a Female Artist: Naturally, seeing as she broke the single-week sales record for both men and women. But it's notable because Britney Spears held the record for the past 15 years, ever since Oops...I Did It Again sold 1.3 million copies in 2000. (When Adele was informed of this fact by NPR, she simply said, "Britney is the queen.")
First Single to Sell 1 Million Copies in a Week: Before 25 broke any records, Adele's first single, "Hello," set the precedent, becoming the first track to be downloaded more than one million times in one week. That is nearly twice as many as the previous record holder: Flo Rida's "Right Round."
The Best-Selling Album of 2015: When you break that many records, there's no way you don't end up with the biggest album of 2015. In fact, it's been a landslide: Adele's 25 sold more copies in one week than the other best-selling album, Taylor Swift's 1989, sold all year (1.8 million).
